Back Story : Set-out to write an anti-leadership book (a non one-size-fits-all) >> First interview my father-in-law served-up Italian Manhattans (bourbon) and Key Lime pie. The rest is history.
Coaching has always been there for me. From when I was in first grade and my best friend, a sweaty-palmed Beethoven fan from way back 7 years prior, (yes, when he was born), had nothing cool in his tree house, that his parents built for him.
And when I said nothing cool, what I really meant was literally nothing. It was painted white inside and out and was pretty cool, albeit, sterile, even for a tree house, but white, really?!?
So I took pity and gathered a pennant I had pinned above my bed which was a souvenir from the recent WORLD CHAMPION Oakland A’s, some wooden swords and a deck of cards, to at least get him started and on his way to coolsville. After that, I think I got him to realize that getting dirty and hiding from your parents was a cool thing to do (especially since his parents encouraged it).
But what I didn’t realize then, and do now, is I had a high degree of empathy and took to coaching my friend who always felt awkward in class or with many other things.
So the coaching continues and my goal is to help everyone become 30% happier at work. Join me and I may not force you into coolsville but will at least get you on your way to happiness.
